AstroTurf AD of the Year Award

The AstroTurf AD of the Year Awards (ADOY) program, now in its 10th year, recognizes athletics directors who have shown administrative excellence within the campus and/or college community for the current academic year (2007-08).

On the site is information necessary to nominate a NACDA-member AD. Please review the criteria, nomination form and list of past winners for details. There are many deserving candidates for the awards. However, since ADs can only win the award once every three years, winners listed from 2005-06 and 2006-07 are not eligible. Winners from 2004-05 who meet the criteria are again eligible for nomination.

The award encompasses seven divisions - NCAA FBS, FCS, Division I, II, III, NAIA/Other Four-Year Institutions and Junior/Community Colleges. While you may feel most qualified to nominate athletics directors from your division, you may also nominate ADs in other divisions. You may nominate one AD per region in each division and one International candidate.

Twenty-nine directors of athletics will be honored in the four U.S. regions - Northeast, Southeast, Central and West - in each of the six divisions (see reverse side of the enclosed criteria sheet for a breakdown on what states are included in each region). Additionally, one cross-divisional winner will be honored in the International region. Winners will be presented their awards at NACDA's 43rd Annual Convention during the James J. Corbett Awards Luncheon at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas on Tuesday, June 10.

All nomination forms must be returned to the NACDA office by Friday, January 18, 2008. You may submit nominations via e-mail, fax, regular or overnight mail. However, please use only ONE METHOD. Nominators are only required to submit a nomination form on behalf of a nominee, though letters of support are encouraged. The NACDA office will collect biographical information on each candidate.

If you have any questions regarding the award, please feel free to contact Alana McClanahan in the NACDA office at 440-892-4000.
